The 5th Royalty Soapie awards were held at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Centre in Joziburg on Saturday night (18 September) and featured an audience of nominees and guests who walked the red carpet like in the days of old.
The ceremony and red carpet were recorded for TV but only air on SABC1 on Saturday 2 October at 19h30 - when they should have aired live.
It's ridiculous to have a delay on a local awards ceremony like this. It takes the spontaneity and pizzazz out of it and creates a disjointed situation when it comes to media coverage and the socialz.

DiepCity, which received the most number of nominations, took the most number of wins with a total of seven, followed by The Estate with three.
