Nomusa Dube-Ncube is a South African politician and former diplomat who has been the 9th Premier of KwaZulu-Natal since August 2022. A member of the African National Congress, she is the first woman to hold the office.

1. She has three diplomas in public management, management and leadership and training and development.
2. She holds a master’s degree in public administration.
3. Dube-Ncube’s political career has come full circle from being mayor of the former North Central Local Council in Durban before it was amalgamated with other municipalities in 2000 to form the Ethekwini Municipality.
4. She is a former ambassador to the Czech Republic.
5. In 2009, she was appointed ANC chief whip in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature.
6. Dube-Ncube has held two provincial ANC top five positions, deputy secretary and treasurer.
7. She was finance MEC in former premier Sihle Zikalala’s cabinet.
8. Dube-Ncube was married to businessman Sibusiso Ncube, who died in January.
9. She harboured an ambition to contest the KwaZulu-Natal ANC chairpersonship last month but failed to garner enough votes to make it to the ballot paper.
10. She was born in KwaMashu, but her age and family life are not known to the public. She celebrates her birthday on July 1.
