Few facts you probably didn't know about Shoki from House of Zwide

 Shalate Sekhabi is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Shoki in the e.tv soapie House of Zwide.

The daughter of playwright and director Aubrey Sekhabi, she is originally from Mafikeng in the North West Province. 

She fell in love with film, music and drama when she was 8 years old after she joined the school choir and drama club. When she was eleven, Shalate joined Steele Models. She got her first taste of real acting at 14 when she featured in two short films, A Cup of Sugar directed by Xolile Tshabalala and Making a Killing directed by Justine Head, it was then that she knew she wanted to make a career out of acting.

She matriculated from Crawford College in Pretoria in 2018 and the following year joined the University of the Witswatersrand, studying film and television.

Shalate appeared in a cameo role on The River season 3 as Millicent.The following year Shalate landed her first starring role in television when she was cast as Shoki, the best friend of Ona Molapo (played by Nefisa Mkhabela), in the e.tv soapie House of Zwide.
